There are so many animals out there without homes. If you're thinking about getting a new pet... think about adopting. The best search engine for adopting is, of course, Petfinder.

There are 3 adoption centers that I have had personal experience with and would gladly recommend.

Feline Rescue, Inc. is a Minnesota based no-kill companion cat rescue organization. Our founders established Feline Rescue in 1997 in Minneapolis, MN as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are an all volunteer organization, with no paid staff. We are funded exclusively through donations and grants. We receive no municipal, state, or federal funding.

We provide rescue and relief to the homeless and endangered cats in our community through programs that offer shelter, foster, social and medical rehabilitation, feral and stray management, spay/neuter subsidy, and community education.

Our mission is to provide safe shelter, veterinary care, and socialization for stray, abandoned, or abused cats until good permanent homes can be found for them. Our mission does not enable us to accept owner surrendered animals.

Pet Haven Inc. of Minnesota [a 501(c)(3) charitable organization], rescues and re-homes cats and dogs, spays and neuters to reduce overpopulation, promotes companion animal welfare, and advocates on behalf of companion animals.

Pet Haven Inc. of Minnesota’s vision is to be a rewarding place to volunteer, to find a quality home for each animal, to encourage a community of responsible companion animal guardians, to eliminate the community’s need to euthanize dogs and cats as a means of population control, and to encourage a society where they become more valued.

Underdog Rescue, MN is small 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the  placement of homeless companion animals.  We are a  foster-based rescue group  who works to rehabilitate dogs and cats of all ages and breeds.  We believe that  all animals deserve caring,  responsible homes and we work to place pets with responsible individuals or families.

Favorite Tool

The FURminator
This tool has been absolutely wonderful. It's easy to use, and it really gets the job done. Reduces shedding up to 90 percent by removing the loose, dead undercoat without damaging the topcoat. We have a smaller dog and two cats, so the smaller one works great for us. Above is pictured the larger version for larger animals. There are some newer versions out there that we would like to try... one with a double edge ... one with a FURejector ... both of which sound like winners to us! Check it out! Rusty Pouncing

Yes, our dog likes to pounce. Not only that, but he likes to pounce after cat toys... He fits right in our funny family.

Pretty Princess

Sheila is our pretty princess. She loves to be admired from afar. Although she loves attention, she's picky on when you're allowed to touch her.

The Boss

Jamie is definitely in charge, but she's having a hard time putting Rusty in his place. He knows she's in charge, but he just wants to play with her.

Cat Training!

Newest Member

We adopted Rusty on April 20th, 2009. He's wonderful, but a handful. We've found that training is essential. There are several different options out there. It can get so difficult to choose.
